ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
The French poet Paul Valéry said that the depths
are in the skin. These images, part
of a long series of photographs taken throughout many years, show this
essential quality of the elements, their wrinkled profoundness: the beauty of
the Earth's textures.
If we
look closely enough and erase the contours of the figures, we no longer see the
objects, but its abstract reality. The horizon and the lines of the landscape
have been removed: here, in the very heart of the matter, we can admire the
delicacy of Nature's artistry; her most intricate and wonderful patterns...
Fire, water, earth and air.
Textures
of the Earth invites you to contemplate the nuances of wavelets and
ripples, the transparencies of autumn leaves, the colors of the stones' strata,
the purple-hued veils of the dusk or the polychromatic arabesques of lichens...
Nature's palettes.
There
is a close relationship between these photographs and the art of modern
painting: the blazing colors of J.M.W. Turner's sunsets and sunrises, the
watery textures of Monet's impressionism, or the earthy materials of Tapies' or
Zao Wu Ki's abstract expressionism...
This exhibition is also homage to these painters.
